Im working on Elder Scrolls text based mmorpg

Hi, to all of you, im new in community. I have decided to make a text based roleplay game themed in Elder Scrolls series, that i will call Elder Scrolls Adventures
, im developting it with my Visual Studio 2010 knowledge, using two applications connected by a mysql database, to store characters progress and profiles. The main application feature a simple gui that allow player create character and for acess all data trought the game like profile, inventory, journal, skills, map, etc. The second one connected is a console application that allow user roleplaying with text interactions… Check for some screenshoots.

Interesting…

you sure you have no problems with copyrights?

I’m sure he plans on a pretty low-key popularity? Though I do understand Bethesda to be quite the b-tards when it comes to “copying them”. Corporate temper tantrums ftl.

Dont understand what you mean about copyright, i do not using content from thiers only name and themed based, and i will not make money with this, then i think it doesnt have any restriction or violation.

Speaking from experience, i would not use the console type MUD, build a client with players information and stuff displayed, and have a RTB “console” for displaying moving/attacks etc. When I did my on-line drug dealing game when we moved away from MUD to a actual client with pictures, inventory, npcs, players etc. our player database expanded ten fold. Anyone can throw a semi decent mud together but to build a client and make it look snazzy with decent features separates you from every other MUD.

Example:

something to really consider if you want a popular game. I’d be happy to help if I was not putting all my time into my project. Good luck and I would play if/when I have the time.

The best tip you’ll get to improve your game right there ^ I can second that.

Thats interesting, You want me to convert my two applications in the one that looks that the one you show in the images? i need to ask what programming language you used for it, also what you suggest me to do???

My suggestion is leave the server as-is, whereas change the client to a windows form with some graphics and have the console be a textbox of some sort and have that display what your console would. It is just a suggestion, but I would rather give my 2 cents and be helpful than let you build something that I know could be better in the long run.

So basically, make the client a windows form, have the console you showed replaced and placed on the windows form as a textbox/RTB and display the same information.

I made HO in VB, an easier language, but definitely keep going the way you are and feel free to drop me a pm if you need further help.

Ok i can make that easy, also youre saying that wanna help me??? And can you show me your game, link me to it, or give source???
