DEPRESSED? (Join this thread and share your pain)

Hi all 😛

for starter im goin to share this lyrics:

! "Get It Right"
!
! What have I done?
! I wish I could run,
! Away from this ship going under
! Just trying to help
! Hurt everyone else
! Now I feel the weight of the world is on my shoulders
! What can you do when your good isn’t good enough
! And all that you touch tumbles down?
! Cause my best intentions
! Keep making a mess of things,
! I just wanna fix it somehow
! But how many times will it take?
! Oh, how many times will it take for me to get it right, to get it right?
! Can I start again, with my faith shaken?
! Cause I can’t go back and undo this
! I just have to stay and face my mistakes,
! But if I get stronger and wiser, I’ll get through this
! What can you do when your good isn’t good enough?
! And all that you touch tumbles down?
! Cause my best intentions keep making a mess of things,
! I just wanna fix it somehow
! But how many times will it take?
! Oh, how many times will it take for me to get it right?
! So I throw up my fist, throw a punch in the air,
! And accept the truth that sometimes life isn’t fair!
! Yeah, I’ll send out a wish, yeah, I’ll send up a prayer
! And finally someone will see how much I care
! What can you do when your good isn’t good enough?
! And all that you touch tumbles down?
! Cause my best intentions keep making a mess of things,
! I just wanna fix it somehow
! But how many times will it take?
! Oh, how many times will it take, to get it right?
! To get it right?

First Topic: Social Anxiety

Did you know that anxiety is more common in our society?

But what is it actually?

! Social anxiety is a discomfort or a fear when a person is in social interactions that involve a concern about being judged or evaluated by others.[1] It is typically characterized by an intense fear of what others are thinking about them (specifically fear of embarrassment, criticism, or rejection), which results in the individual feeling insecure, not good enough for other people, and/or the assumption that peers will automatically reject them.[2] Developmental social anxiety occurs early in childhood as a normal part of the development of social functioning, and is a stage that most children grow out of, but it may persist or resurface and grow into chronic social anxiety.[3] People vary in how often they experience social anxiety and in which kinds of situations. - wikia 😛

People who are often bullied can really relate to this…  .   feel free to share any thoughts bout this topic guys or bout your personal experience 😛

Second Topic: Low Self Esteem

Trust, is a very thing that is hard to recover ones gone, specially self trust. Self disappointment is very sad thing and it affects us deeply than we ever know, we might lose our ways in life.

so lets define what is self-esteem

! Self-esteem is a term used in psychology to reflect person’s overall emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs (for example, “I am competent,” “I am worthy”) and emotions such as triumphdespairpride and shame.[1] Smith and Mackie define it by saying “The self-concept is what we think about the self; self-esteem, is the positive or negative evaluations of the self, as in how we feel about it.”[2]:107 Self-esteem is also known as the evaluative dimension of the self that includes feelings of worthiness, prides and discouragement.[3] One’s self-esteem is also closely associated with self-consciousness.[4]
! Self-esteem is a disposition that a person has which represents their judgments of their own worthiness.[5] In the mid-1960s, Morris Rosenberg and social-learning theorists defined self-esteem as a personal worth or worthiness.[6] Nathaniel Branden in 1969 defined self-esteem as “the experience of being competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and being worthy of happiness.” According to Branden, self-esteem is the sum of self-confidence (a feeling of personal capacity) and self-respect (a feeling of personal worth). It exists as a consequence of the implicit judgment that every person has of their ability to face life’s challenges, to understand and solve problems, and their right to achieve happiness, and be given respect.[7]
! As a social psychological construct, self-esteem is attractive because researchers have conceptualized it as an influential predictor of relevant outcomes, such as academic achievement [8] or exercise behavior (Hagger et al. 1998)[[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources#What_information_to_include]full citation needed]. In addition, self-esteem has also been treated as an important outcome due to its close relation with psychological well-being (Marsh 1989)[[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources#What_information_to_include]full citation needed]. Self-esteem can apply specifically to a particular dimension (for example, “I believe I am a good writer and I feel happy about that”) or a global extent (for example, “I believe I am a bad person, and feel bad about myself in general”). Psychologists usually regard self-esteem as an enduring personality characteristic (“trait” self-esteem), though normal, short-term variations (“state” self-esteem) also exist. Synonyms or near-synonyms of self-esteem include: self-worth,[9] self-regard,[10] self-respect,[11][12] and self-integrity… - wikia  😛
!
! do you have low self esteem too?

! Third Topic: Clinical Depression itself **  :o**
!
! Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person’s thoughts, behavior, feelings and sense of well-being. Depressed people feel sad, anxious, empty, hopeless, worried, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable, hurt, or restless. They may lose interest in activities that once were pleasurable, experience loss of appetite or overeating, have problems concentrating, remembering details, or making decisions, and may contemplate, attempt, or commit suicideInsomniaexcessive sleepingfatigue, loss of energy, or aches, pains, or digestive problems may also be present.
! Depressed mood is not always a psychiatric disorder
.
It may also be a normal reaction to certain life events, a symptom of some medical conditions, or a side effect of some drugs or medical treatments. Depressed mood is also a primary or associated feature of certain psychiatric syndromes such as clinical depression. (wikia)
! When is it crippling? or in medical term, Clinical depression?
! Major depressive disorder (MDD) (also known as clinical depressionmajor depressionunipolar depression, or unipolar disorder; or as recurrent depression in the case of repeated episodes) is a mental disorder characterized by a pervasive and persistent low mood that is accompanied by low self-esteem and by a loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. This cluster of symptoms (syndrome) was named, described and classified as one of the mood disorders in the 1980 edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s diagnostic manual. The term “depression” is ambiguous. It is often used to denote this syndrome but may refer to other mood disorders or to lower mood states lackingclinical significance. Major depressive disorder is a disabling condition that adversely affects a person’s family, work or school life, sleeping and eating habits, and general health. In the United States, around 3.4% of people with major depression commitsuicide, and up to 60% of people who commit suicide had depression or another mood disorder.[1]
! The diagnosis of major depressive disorder is based on the patient’s self-reported experiences, behavior reported by relatives or friends, and a mental status examination. There is no laboratory test for major depression, although physicians generally request tests for physical conditions that may cause similar symptoms. The most common time of onset is between the ages of 20 and 30 years, with a later peak between 30 and 40 years.[2]
! Typically, patients are treated with antidepressant medication and, in many cases, also receive psychotherapy or counseling, although the effectiveness of medication for mild or moderate cases is questionable.[3] Hospitalization may be necessary in cases with associated self-neglect or a significant risk of harm to self or others. A minority are treated with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). The course of the disorder varies widely, from one episode lasting weeks to a lifelong disorder with recurrentmajor depressive episodes. Depressed individuals have shorter life expectancies than those without depression, in part because of greater susceptibility to medical illnesses and suicide. It is unclear whether or not medications affect the risk of suicide. Current and former patients may be stigmatized.
! The understanding of the nature and causes of depression has evolved over the centuries, though this understanding is incomplete and has left many aspects of depression as the subject of discussion and research. Proposed causes include psychological, psycho-social, hereditaryevolutionary and biological factors. Long-term substance abuse may cause or worsen depressive symptoms. Psychological treatments are based on theories of personalityinterpersonal communication, and learning. Most biological theories focus on the monoamine chemicals serotoninnorepinephrine and dopamine, which are naturally present in thebrain and assist communication between nerve cells.
! Depression is very common to us all, though if not treated well, it might result to a more severe issue that will need medical attention, hang on there fellow, don’t forget to rely on love ones, they can really help you 🙂
