It's Been a while.

It’s been a long time since I’ve even checked out this engine. The stable release is pretty nice. My questions are the following.

Since most of the scripts I’ve seen are posted back in 07 or sooner, Will they work with the stable release?

How customized can the game became with the sadscript? Also if its not possible with sadscript would it be possible in the source code.

Everything is possible with source, if you edit it enough.

Alright, thanks for the info.

Also Is it possible to have cut scenes for quests and like when you first create a character.? Again would that be source? If so I guess its time to learn some vb. vb.net really wouldnt help me.

All the scripts from 07 work in Stable; most the scripts from 05, 06, work in Stable as well.

As for cut scenes when you first create a character, that’s easy (in sadscript).
Make the cut scene in flash, and put the swf file in the Client\Flashs\ folder.
Then, in the OnNewChar sub (I think it’s in the Scripts\Events\ folder, in the OnNewChar.ess or something) add this command:
Call Flash(Index, “Flash.swf”) where Flash.swf is the name of the flash file.
Then, when someone creates their new character, the flash file works.

To answer your other question in your opening post, too, my game, Retarded Online, has no source edits.
It has a fully scripted spell system (where the player’s spells can level up), a scripted arcade, and many other various features; virtually anything is possible via sadscript in Eclipse; I even wrote an experimental turn-based battle system in pure sadscript, someone else attempted a pet system via sadscript.
So yeah…

Thanks Admiral. I will most likely be going with stable. I will need to learn sadscript or find someone who is good enough for my game.

Learning sadscript is very easy once you get the hang of it; here are some tutorials that can help you greatly:

Thanks again Admiral. The hardest part for me is remembering all the values so i can update the scripts i would like to use with ES.
