### Are you an idiot?

Solve this math problem:

20/2(5+5)

I’m sick of seeing it on facebawk answered by so many stupid ass uneducated quacks. (Half my friends list… all 2 of them :'D)

• ### Are you an idiot?

It should be just 100

### Are you an idiot?

It should be just 100

Wrong.

• M

Probably

• N

• ### Are you an idiot?

syntax error, unexpected ‘(’

• ### Are you an idiot?

answer is 1 isnt it lol

• ### Are you an idiot?

Are you an idiot?

Find out here!

### Are you an idiot?

I’m almost 200% sure it’s 1

• ### Are you an idiot?

20/2(5+5)

I’d say 100.

If I recall correctly, brackets go first, so it changes to 20/2(10), which is 20/2*10.

Now, they / and * are on the same level, so we go from left side, which makes it 10*10 = 100.

Or not, maybe I’m wrong.

### Are you an idiot?

but distributive property is a thing…

20/2(5+5) = 20/(25 + 25 ) = 20/(10+10) = 20/20 = 1

• D

### Are you an idiot?

I can’t remember if distributive property gets rid of brackets or noth though… so it could actually be 12

20/2(5+5) = 20/10 + 10 = 2 + 10 = 12

• ### Are you an idiot?

thats not how you do distributive property

• ### Are you an idiot?

You can distribute it if you want, it would go something like…

20/2(5+5) to 10(5+5) to (50+50) = 100

You do parentheses first, exponents second, multiplication and division third, addition and subtraction forth. And you do those left to right, aka, 20/2 then the 10 and then you multiply it with the parentheses.

• ### Are you an idiot?

In other words, Crest you’re stupid. And your 200% correct statement made you even more stupid.

• ### Are you an idiot?

It’s 100 like the others said.

### Are you an idiot?

That makes no sense, you do distributive property at the beginning of the equation because it has parenthesis.

20/2(5+5) = 20/(10+10) = 20/20 = 1 I’m telling you it’s 1

• ### Are you an idiot?

And I’m telling you that you’re wrong.

You cannot MULTIPLY from right to left which is what you are doing, you have to divide then you may distribute since it’s the equivalent to (5+5) = 10 which leads to 20/210 which would be 1010=100

• ### Are you an idiot?

Using basic math, the answer is one, because:

= 1

but correctly used its actually 100:

= 100

### Are you an idiot?

That makes no sense, you do distributive property at the beginning of the equation because it has parenthesis.

20/2(5+5) = 20/(10+10) = 20/20 = 1 I’m telling you it’s 1

That means do what’s in the parenthesis first, which would be adding those constants. Answer should be 100.
