These are very solid. I’ll give my opinion on what’s working and what’s not on each.
Pretty good. :) There’s a lack of vegetation on the north side of the map, in comparison with the south side. The real problem here seems to be you have no rules on where any detail is placed. Why is there a pile of rocks right in front of the bench? Wouldn’t someone have picked it up? Why is the dirt path growing colorful flowers, and crabgrass on it? Some of that just doesn’t make sense. Outside of that, this map is very solid.
Map 2- I really like this map, I don’t see much wrong with it besides the grass area could use a bit more to spice it up, maybe some of the darker grass over it. And that lamp post really doesn’t look good to me without the middle piece. But that’s just personal taste.
Map 3- The trees here don’t make sense. Their base is behind the base of the house, yet their branches overlap the house tiles. Unless the trees are growing lopsided, that wouldn’t happen. Secondly, the bottom left part of the map just seems too empty to me. I still like the map though.
Map 4- The main problems I have here are:
The place looks too flat, it needs some level, even if not a lot.
The dark grass tiles here aren’t random enough, you need more than just that one big patch in the center. Make a few smaller patches surrounding it.
The trees, almost look like they’re following a pattern for some reason. Maybe it’s just me seeing things, but it still looks like that to me.
Map 5- I’m REALLY liking this one, nice job on it. The only real problem I could find, is that the door to the northernmost house leads out into flowers. I don’t know any house that would be like that. =P
Map 6- Once again, really good. The lilypads in the water look a bit off, however, and the doorway to this area is annoying to look at without the cave entrance tile surrounding it. However, I know this is most likely a problem with the tiles.
Map 7- Great map. Don’t forget to add detail on the upper levels of those cliffs though. That’s an even better place to add it, as the player won’t be walking there.
Overall, like I said, I think it’s very solid, just a few minor things here and there. I’d give them an 8/10. =)
