News Sidebar (For Windows)

I built a news-sidebar programme (mostly for myself) to allow me to see all my RSS feeds at all times, it basically sticks to the side of your screen.

The screenshots show how it works. It’s not the most beautiful programme out there, but it’s designed with a very easy to use feel in mind. You can modify what feeds it reads, how often it reads them, what order to display them, which side of the screen it sticks to, how wide it is, and how many articles per feed it displays.

When you click an article title, it opens that article in your default browser.

If you double-click a title (I.e. CNN Top Stories) it will minimize or maximize that particular group for you.

You can right-click to open the Feeds editor or the Properties editor.

The .zip file has the .exe in it. Feel free to leave comments here.

Awesome

Kudos :D I think I’ll get it, but it looks a little messy and plain.

So how would we go about getting the Eclipse feed on there ;)

Here you go. Just follow these steps. (The Images.)

1. At the bottom of the site click the RSS icon, select Eclipse News.

Thats awesome :P

When you click on one of the Eclipse News items it takes you directly to the topic, for the record.

Very nice. I sadly ran out of kudos.

So if anyone has any suggestions for improvement, I would be happy to hear them. I plan on redoing the UI at some point to make it easier to use and look better.

EBrown

I am working on, and will shortly be uploading, a version that supports a floating window instead of forcing you to dock, and it will have an automatic check for updates as well.

Thanks,

EBrown

Why not make it visible only on the desktop. I don’t want to watch my feeds while browsing the web.

1.0.0.1.

In this version I added an update checker and the ability to float the sidebar.

Thanks,
