Build Me A Computer Worthy of Mordor.

All nerdiness aside, I start college this summer and need a laptop for my programming/game developing classes. The thing is, I know very little about laptops and need some assistance in customizing/building a laptop (from any site, as long as it’s a great laptop). I want it to be very high end; for gaming, rendering, processing power, and if possible ways to keep it from overheating.

The best thing is I get reimbursed for it, so I have a budget of up to $3k to build a laptop. So any help would be much appreciated.

I think the best ones are from Alienware.

and for the topic title:

! a motherboard built in Rohan
! a video card made by Elves that cools off when viruses aproach
! a power source powered by The Ring
! RAM from mithril from the Dwarves

I think the best ones are from Alienware.

You must be kidding me…

You must be kidding me…

no, I’m kiddin the world. Just shut up. I was posting my oppinion.

there are other good Laptop makers like Acer, Asus, and a few others, but Alieware has a better design, and it’s made for games.

Alienware is overpriced and poorly built. There are so many other good alternatives and Alienware are nothing but a glowing pile of plastic.

I have Acer Aspire 5553G and I am completely happy with it, only thing is, that it’s older now and it could have better cooling… :)

I do as well! I agree. Cooling is a problem.

Get a Google Laptop and render everything on the cloud :3

But srsly…

There are websites where you can mix and match parts and they build for you. Don’t know any American sites like that though.

No way.

If you could give us an idea of how much you would spend then that would be helpful, also what would you be using it for? Video rendering or gaming

^ Seriously, I need some glasses, I suggest you take a look on pcspecialist.co.uk - if you’re not from the UK it doesn’t matter as you can get an idea of what kind of laptop you want and it can give you a huge range of options to select from and even the prices!

i hope you know I was sharing an opinion, not implying him to buy one.

Goto a site like this: http://pc.ncix.com/pcbuilder/

Select a base pc. Then at every step it will ask you how much ram you want etc. Buy accordingly. Give them a extra 50 and they will put the whole computer together for you. That way you can get exactly the specs you want.

Dont get any of those awesome looking computers. You end up paying for special effects and not a good system.

Laptop builders are probably a bit harder to find.

Gave it a look, the price for what you get is a bit too much

Wanting something new, so I don’t have to update for quite a while.

Unfortunately for class, I require a laptop (although I prefer desktops).

Appreciate the feedback guys, any other suggestions are welcome! ^_^

I recommend Lenovo laptops and Samsung laptops, if yo look at the higher end ones the Lenovo ones handle supurbly under pressure and Samsung are generally a good make graphic wise and performance but higher end samsung laptops come with a hefty budget

i hope you know you were probably dropped on your head at birth

Try getting a MacBook?

Or try? http://s4p.us/DX/

For what you’re doing, you definitely don’t want an Alienware, MacBook, or laptop with a mobile graphics card.

I’d go with Jumbofile’s suggestion…
